Vehicle drives into ravine off I-65, killing Birmingham woman

Maxine Lacheynne Davis, 49, of Birmingham, was pronounced dead at 11: 18 a.m., according to Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates.

Investigators believe the car was traveling north on I-65 near University Boulevard when it left the roadway, went into a ravine and struck a tree. The car was later found near the intersection of Ninth Avenue South and Sixth Street South.

Davis was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle. The driver and the rear passenger were taken to the hospital with significant injuries, according to Yates
