OHP Says Man Dies After He Was Struck By Tractor Trailer

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Okla. - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a man died after he was struck by a tractor trailer early Friday morning. The accident happened just before 6:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the Earlsboro exit in Pottawatomie County.

Initially, 57-year-old Robert Scott of Prague was involved in an accident that caused his vehicle to depart the I-40 westbound lanes, strike a guardrail and land on the interstate’s grass shoulder. Scott’s vehicle car caught fire.

According to OHP, Scott then exited the vehicle, walked onto the interstate and was hit by a tractor trailer.

Scott was declared dead at the scene by REACT Shawnee.

The cause of Scott’s initial collision, as well as the condition of Scott and the driver of the tractor trailer, are all under investigation at this time.
