NEWBERRY, SC, (April 03, 2020) - Emmanuil Khmelnitskiy tragcally died on Friday, April 3rd after being struck by a tractor-trailer in a hit-and-run in Newberry County. Khmelnitskiy, 17, was hit at about 7:40 a.m. on Interstate 26 by Kendrick Coakley, who was operating the rig with a suspended license. Khmelnitskiy’s was legally parked in the emergency lane at the time of the collision. Coakley fled the scene but was later apprehended by authorities.
Coakley faces numerous charges, including leaving the scene of a collision involving death and driving under suspension.
