Tampa homicide detectives are investigating a car crash that killed one person Monday morning.
A driver stopped at a red light on Columbus Drive at Himes Avenue in Tampa around 9:30 a.m. was rear-ended by another driver, according to the Tampa Police Department. The crash caused a chain reaction, and five vehicles were involved.
The driver who was originally rear-ended died, according to police. The driver’s identity has not yet been released by authorities.
The driver who hit the stopped car was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating if speed was a factor in the crash. Charges are pending.
