MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A crash in Ouachita Parish has claimed the life of a man.
According to Louisiana State Police, it happened May 5, 2020, shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Interstate 20 just east of Monroe.
State police say a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Johnny Ray Green, of Oak Grove, was eastbound on I-20 when, for reasons still under investigation, it stopped in the outside lane of travel. Police say Green got out of the vehicle, after which he and the vehicle were hit by an 18-wheeler.
Green was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
