Man killed in crash on I-70 near St. Charles County border identified

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A man was killed in a crash on Interstate 70 near the border of St. Charles and Warren counties.

The wreck happened at about 1:21 p.m. in the westbound lanes in Foristell, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 86-year-old Raymond Moore, of Warrenton, was speeding and tried to pass a vehicle by using the right shoulder. He then hit a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder, the highway patrol said.Moore’s vehicle got back into the right lane of traffic and hit the back of another tractor-trailer. Debris from the crash damaged a fourth vehicle that was driven by a 16-year-old girl.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.

The view from 5 On Your Side’s helicopter showed the passenger vehicle in the middle of the interstate ahead of the tractor-trailer. It was severely burned and mangled from the crash.

Emergency crews closed the westbound lanes of I-70 near Highway W for several hours while they investigated what happened and processed the scene.

No one else was injured in the wreck.
