FAIRFIELD, AL, (January 15, 2021) - An accident on Friday afternoon, January 15th, near Fairfield sadly left the driver deceased and her passenger with serious injuries.Rita Faye Thomas, 37, of Vance, was driving a Kia Soul at about 1:30 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck an 18-wheeler stopped on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 59/20 between Allison-Bonnett Memorial Drive and Valley Road.
Ms. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, whose name hasn’t been released, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
