A fatal multi-vehicle crash in Arlington closed all westbound lanes of Interstate 30 for several hours on Thursday morning. Police responded near Green Oaks Boulevard overpass around 4 a.m., a spokesperson from the Arlington Police Department said. One person, a 19-year-old man, was killed in the crash and three others were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The man who died was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as Adrian Arbaiza Andrade, of Plano.
In a news release sent Thursday afternoon, Arlington police said four vehicles were involved in the crash: a Honda Element, a Hyundai Sonata, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Ford F150 pickup truck. Investigators believe the Element became disabled in the center lane and was struck from behind by the Sonata., then struck by the motorcycle, according to the release. The 19-year-old man, who was driving the Element, was outside of his car when the Ford F150 collided with the Element, causing it to strike the man, according to the release. Arbaiza Andrade was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers inside the Element were injured and taken to the hospital. The drivers of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries and either declined or did not require transport. No criminal charges have been filed against any of the drivers involved as of Thursday afternoon, according to police. Lanes were closed through Arlington at Fielder Road, police said. Drivers were advised to take alternative routes including 121/183, or 303/Pioneer Parkway. The interstate was “shut down for several hours while the investigation and clean up took place,” the department said. The highway reopened around 9 a.m.
