Another person was also killed in a separate wreck on I-285 near Lawrenceville Highway.
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County Police said four people died in a multi-vehicle wreck early Monday morning.
It happened at around 1 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 285 near Moreland Avenue. Police said there were at least four vehicles involved.
The victims, who range in age from “late teens” to “late 40s,” were outside their vehicles and were struck, police said. A fifth person was also struck and remains hospitalized fighting for his life. The person allegedly responsible, who police only identified as an adult male, is also in a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The names of the victims have not been released.
The highway was closed for at least five hours and has since reopened and police said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
In a separate incident at around 4 a.m. Monday, a man changing a flat tire on I-285 near Lawrenceville Highway and Lavista Road was struck and killed. The adult male was transported to the hospital where he later died.
