LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 15 south of the Las Vegas valley on Sunday, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
NHP got a report of a crash just after 10:45 a.m. on northbound I-15 near mile marker 7, Trooper Ashlee Wellman said.A blue Kia Soul was stopped in the left shoulder of southbound I-15, Wellman said. One of the passengers left the car and went into the northbound side of the interstate to retrieve some belongings.While in the left-hand travel lane, the man was hit by a white Honda C-RV, she said. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda is cooperating with investigators, according to Wellman, and impairment is not suspected on their part.
The left-hand travel lane on northbound I-15 is closed for the investigation and is expected to remain closed until about 3 p.m.
