17-year-old killed after being struck by big rig in Solano County, CHP says

SOLANO COUNTY, Calif. —

A 17-year-old girl died Sunday after being struck by a big rig in Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Just before 1 a.m., a big rig was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 at Dixon Avenue, approaching a separate crash in the roadway, officials said.The big rig driver was unable to stop as it approached the previous crash, and collided with several other vehicles, CHP said.

The 17-year-old female passenger from the previous crash was standing on the right shoulder and was struck by the big rig, CHP said. She was later pronounced dead, officials said.
