Reward offered for information leading to arrest of driver who struck victim on Interstate 45 near Sawdust
SPRING, TX, (June 12, 2021) - Austin Ard, 26, of Spring, is clinging to life after he was struck Saturday night by a hit-and-run driver on Interstate 45.
Police said Ard was pulled off to the shoulder of the highway near Sawdust Road when he was hit by a white Chevrolet or GMC work van. The van continued without stopping.
Ard was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital The Woodlands where he remains with critical injuries. A family member said Ard suffered brain damage and a broken leg from the crash.
Police said the suspect vehicle is missing the right side-view mirror and has front-end damage. A $1,000 reward for information that leads to the suspect is being offered. Witnesses are urged to call Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 392-STOP (7867).
