Tahoka, TX – June 20, 2021, 58-year-old James Dean Levasseur was killed in a collision with a parked tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 87 near Tahoka.
Authorities say the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on US-87, roughly five miles south of town. Preliminary investigation suggests Levasseur was traveling on the roadway when he drifted onto the right shoulder for unknown reasons. His pickup then struck a Peterbilt semi-trailer that was stopped in the area due to a breakdown.
Levasseur, reportedly not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
