Alcohol and distracted driving are being investigated as factors in a crash that killed a motorist Friday morning, June 25, on Hwy. 401 in Pickering, according to police.
In an update on the collision Friday afternoon, OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt said an investigation continues, and police are appealing for witnesses. Express lanes on Hwy. 401, closed throughout the day, have now been re-opened, Schmidt said.
Update: The driver that struck the disabled vehicle on the shoulder of #Hwy401 was a 17 year old from Toronto. Alcohol and distraction being investigated as a contributing factor.
