Chain-reaction crash kills motorist on I-295 in Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL - A motorist was fatally injured in a chain-reaction accident that involved four vehicles on Interstate 295, police say.

The victim, whose name was not released, was driving southbound when his Honda struck a guardrail at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. His disabled car spun to a stop facing northbound in the center lane, according to New Jersey State Police.

A southbound Chevrolet passenger van struck the Honda, ejecting the disabled car’s driver.The man then was hit by two more southbound vehicles, the police account said.

The driver of the Chevrolet van sustained moderate injuries in the crash at milepost 35.6. The other two motorists were unhurt.
