Oct. 27—The California Highway Patrol is investigating a single-car crash involving a 2022 Toyota that failed to negotiate a turn on Highway 58, west of Lokern Road, according to a CHP news release.
Casey Wootten, 47, of Taft, was traveling west a high rate of speed when his vehicle left the highway and came to a rest about 300 feet from the edge of the road.
The exact time of the collision is unknown, but CHP officers reported the vehicle was “cool to the touch” when it was found around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. There were no witnesses to the crash. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be factors.
