BONSALL, CA, (October 13, 2022) - An 18-year-old Baldwin Park resident sadly lost his life following a motor vehicle crash Thursday, Oct. 13, in Bonsall, the Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
Eric Alonso was killed in the crash that authorities say happened on Interstate 15 at Old Highway 395 Overcrossing.
According to preliminary findings, Alonso was a passenger of a vehicle traveling southbound on I-15 when, for undetermined reasons, the driver, an 18-year-old Los Angeles County resident, ran off the right side of the roadway and crashed into the rear of a semi-truck.
Officials said the semi had some maintenance issues and was parked on the right-hand shoulder under the Old Highway 395 overcrossing.
Alonso suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was also killed in the crash.
Investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing.
