Police: Woman dies after being hit by 2 vehicles along I-275

CINCINNATI — A 43-year-old woman died Friday after she was hit by two vehicles on northbound I-275 in Clermont County, police said.

The accident occurred around 6:27 a.m. along I-275 near Beechmont Avenue, officials said.

Police on scene said the woman’s vehicle had stalled out in the middle of the interstate for an unknown reason.

Police said she put on her hazards lights and got out of the vehicle.

Shortly after, police said a GMC Van hit her and her vehicle. She was then hit a second time by a semitruck.

“From what we’ve gathered, she was outside her vehicle toward the front left portion, when the box truck struck the rear of her vehicle. the box truck then struck the pedestrian. Which then, pedestrian was then struck by the semi,” Ohio State Patrol Sgt. Joseph Westhoven said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clermont County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Bobbie Jo Beckelhymer, from Moscow.

Police said her vehicle went off the road and hit a fourth vehicle. The driver of the fourth vehicle hit suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The highway was shut down for hours while police investigated. All lanes have since reopened.

No charges have been filed.
