Roseville Two-Vehicle Crash Kills Child and Injures Mother

A two-vehicle crash in Roseville on November 16 killed a minor child and sent the mother to a hospital. The accident happened along Interstate 80 at Riverside Avenue sometime before 9:00 a.m., according to the report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The woman and her child were riding in a sedan. The driver of the other vehicle was in a pickup.

The sedan involved in the fatal collision was disabled on the Riverside Avenue on-ramp due to a flat tire when it was hit by the pickup. The injured mother was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment, and the driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital for care also. The accident is being investigated by authorities to clarify how the two-vehicle crash occurred and to assign fault.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified driver error as the leading cause of accidents on highway on-ramps. In a new report, the agency says that many crashes are due to distracted driving and speeding.
