A 29-year-old Stamford man was killed in a three-car crash on Route 15 in Stamford late Monday, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Troopers responded to Route 15 north near Exit 34 in Stamford after 10:15 p.m. for a crash. Preliminary investigations determined that a Saab sedan was driving in the left lane when it lost control and hit a wooden guide rail in the median. The car came to a stop across the left lane and was hit by a Toyota Highlander.
Both cars were then struck by a Nissan Rogue, pushing the Saab into the right shoulder where it struck a guardrail and became engulfed in flames, state police said.
The Saab driver, Peter Matusiewicz of Stamford, was killed in the crash, state police said. The Nissan driver was transported to Stamford Hospital with leg, arm and chest pain. The Toyota driver was not injured in the crash, state police said.
The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information or footage of the crash is asked to contact Troop G at 203-696-2500 or through email at maxwell.robins@ct.gov.
