PERRYSBURG TWP., Ohio (WTVG) - One person is dead after a crash on the Ohio turnpike Wednesday morning.
Evgeny Zolotarev, 61, was driving westbound in a Sprinter van when he veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a commercial tractor trailer.
Zolotarev was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred near mile marker 67.7 in Perrysburg Township.
OSHP said the 49-year-old commercial truck driver from Toledo was not injured in the crash.
The semi had stopped in an emergency parking zone prior to being hit.
The Swanton Highway Patrol Post will continue to investigate the crash, but stated in a press release that they do not believe alcohol was a factor.
