Orange County multi-vehicle crash leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

A 38-year-old man from Orlando is dead after colliding into the front of a 2012 Honda Odyssey in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at 3:42 a.m. Saturday on State Road 417 south of University Blvd., and left the drivers of two other vehicles injured.

The Orlando man, who was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang, was traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes. After the initial impact into the van, which was driven by a 40-year-old man from Palatka, the Ford Mustang rotated and came to final rest outside of State Road 417. The van came to final rest facing west in the inside lane of State Road 417, the FHP report said.

A 24-year-old man from Oviedo, who was driving a 2018 Honda Accord, was not able to avoid the van, causing the front of the sedan to hit the left rear of the van. This impact caused both vehicles to rotate and collide with the center concrete wall barrier. The driver of the Honda Accord was transported to Advent Health East Hospital with minor injuries, FHP said.

The driver of the Honda Odyssey was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert in stable condition.

The driver of the Ford Mustang was transported to Advent Health East Hospital and pronounced dead. The crash is under investigation.
