Pedestrian killed in crash on Spur 503 in Denison identified

DENISON, Texas (KXII) - A pedestrian hit and killed by a car Friday morning on Spur 503 in Denison has been identified.

The Denison Police Department said 40-year-old Adam Ailand was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle.

Officers were able to determine Ailand stopped his vehicle to retrieve items from the roadway, when he was struck by another vehicle, according to a press release.

The crash happened on Southbound Spur 503 between Vine Lane and South College Boulevard just after 9 a.m.

Communication and Media Manager for the Denison Police Department Emily Agans said the driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police.

Police said this is an ongoing investigation.

One person has died after a car versus pedestrian crash on Spur 503 in Denison Friday morning.

The crash happened on Southbound Spur 503 between Vine Lane and South College Boulevard around 9 a.m.

Southbound lanes of Spur 503 were closed for more than two hours but reopened around 11:30 a.m.

Communication and Media Manager for the Denison Police Department Emily Agans said the driver stayed on scene and was cooperating with police.

Neither the names of the people involved, or how the crash happened have been released.

Southbound Spur 503 is currently closed and drivers are being rerouted to the service lane.

Communication and Media Manager for the Denison Police Department Emily Agans said the the highway will be closed for another hour or two.

Agans said the driver is on scene and cooperating.
