Queens, NY (December 13, 2022) – A man who exited his vehicle after being involved in a fender-bender in Queens was severely injured. Reports concerning the incident say he may lose his leg due to being struck by a hit-and-run driver after getting out of his car.
Police reported that the 20-year-old man was hit on the Cross Island Parkway at around 11:40 p.m. on Monday, December 12. Reports indicate the man was involved in a minor accident while driving his yellow Ford Escape north on the parkway, approaching the Long Island Expressway exit. His vehicle was involved in a crash with another car just before midnight, according to police.
The man got out of his vehicle just as an off-duty paramedic pulled over to render aid. Just then, a white BMW sped by, striking the EMT’s vehicle, which lunged forward and pinned the man between it and his Ford Escape.
The driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot.
Sources say the man may end up losing his leg due to the severity of his injuries. Police in Queens conitnue to investigate the details of the collision.
