Mahwah, NJ (July 21, 2022) – A driver was hit by his own car during an overnight rear-end crash on Route 287 on Thursday, July 21st.
According to sources, the adult male victim was in a disabled Chevy Camaro that was stopped on the southbound side of the roadway near milepost 63.6 in Mahwah at about 2:30 a.m. when it was struck from behind by a Kenworth dump truck. The impact caused the victim to be hit by his own vehicle as it left the roadway and slammed into a tree.
A medical helicopter was requested at the scene to transport the victim to a local hospital in serious condition.
The truck operator sustained minor injuries.
