MIDWAY, Ga. - Georgia State Patrol says one person is dead after she and her vehicle were hit by a car Monday morning in Midway.
According to GSP, troopers responded at 8:34 a.m. to a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on North Coastal Highway.
Authorities say the 32-year-old female driver of a white 2019 WV Jetta had stopped on the shoulder of the road and was either opening or closing the trunk.
Troopers say that’s when the driver of a 2014 Hyundai Azera failed to maintain lanes, left the road and struck the woman, then her vehicle, from behind.
The woman, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.
Between both vehicles, there were a total of three juveniles injured. One was taken to Liberty Regional Hospital while the other two were taken to Savannah Memorial Hospital.
No charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
