BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – One person was injured and a mess was left behind Friday morning after a crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 95, including a Presidente Supermarket truck.
The crash occurred just after 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95, just north of Interstate 595 in Broward County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a white Honda rear-ended the box truck, causing the axle of the truck to detach.
Authorities said the driver rotated to the right, flipping the truck over the concrete wall and causing the contents of the truck to spill out.
FHP Lt. Indiana Miranda said the Honda then struck a red Dodge Durango, which came to a final rest on the concrete median wall between the southbound and northbound lanes.
A fourth vehicle – a white Nissan Rogue – that was heading south collided with the Durango as it was coming up on the wall, Miranda said.
Miranda said the driver of the box truck was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
She did not immediately confirm whether the driver of the Honda was cited.
The roadblock has since been cleared.
