OSHP: Woman killed in two-vehicle crash after striking deer in Licking County

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 20-year-old woman was killed in a crash involving two vehicles in Licking County Monday night.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at approximately 7:10 p.m. on state Route 661 north of Granville in McKean Township.

A Jeep Cherokee driven by 20-year-old Emma Bartlett of Newark was traveling northbound when she struck a deer crossing the roadway.

The vehicle stopped partially on the roadway. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it is unknown if the Jeep became disabled.

Then a 20-year-old driving a Kia Soul struck Bartlett’s vehicle. Both vehicles went off the side of the road, caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames.

Bartlett was pronounced dead at medics at the scene. The driver of the Soul was taken to Mount Carmel East with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
