WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — A crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 91 Southbound in Wethersfield killed three and injured three on Sunday morning, said state police.
According to state police, the tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder of Interstate 91, north of Exit 25. A 2003 Lincoln Aviator was traveling on Interstate 91 Southbound, for an unknown reason, veered into the right lane and collided with the rear of the tractor-trailer.
The Lincoln came to an uncontrolled final rest on the right shoulder of Interstate 91 Southbound before Exit 25 directly behind the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Kiran John, 26, reported not having any injuries and declined medical attention at the scene.
The driver of the Lincoln, Kory Watson, 36, and Lacey Price, 32, were pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger, Rebecca Shute, 36, was taken to Hartford Hospital where she was pronounced dead due to her injuries suffered in the crash.
The other three occupants were taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center with suspected minor injuries, according to state police.
This crash remains under investigation.
