Motorcyclist dies in fatal multi-vehicle crash on SB Interstate 5: CHP

GRAPEVINE, Calif. (KGET) — A motorcyclist is dead after a multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 5 north of Fort Tejon Road Sunday, according to California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP, officers were dispatched to southbound I-5 for reports of a pickup truck blocking the number two lane, north of Fort Tejon Road. While officials where en route, two motorcyclists on separate motorcycles, traveling southbound on I-5, crashed into the rear of the stopped pickup truck and were ejected.

Emergency crews at the scene transported a 25-year-old rider to Kern Medical Hospital. The other 33-year-old motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to CHP.

CHP cleared the scene on Sunday afternoon.
