Irving, TX — September 17, 2023, Jair Ramirez Rodriguez was killed following an alleged hit-and-run accident at around 2:30 a.m. along Loop 12.
Authorities said that the crash happened along the southbound lanes of Walton Walker in the area of Shady Grove Road.
According to officials, 29-year-old Jair Ramirez Rodriguez had been in a vehicle going along Loop 12 when it apparently ran out of gas. Other occupants reportedly left the area to go get fuel while Ramirez Rodriguez stayed behind with the vehicle. While standing outside of the vehicle, authorities say that a Toyota Tacoma did not avoid the disabled vehicle, crashing into it and hitting Ramirez Rodriguez. The Tacoma then veered to the left where it struck another vehicle.
Ramirez Rodriguez sustained critical injuries which ultimately proved to be fatal. The driver of the Tacoma allegedly failed to stop and render aid, though details suggest authorities have identified that driver and are recommending charges.
It remains to be seen what possible reason the suspect driver had to run away from the scene. It often comes to light that person was trying to hide something specific from authorities, such as drunk driving, drugs, warrants, stolen vehicles, etc. I have yet to see further public statements from authorities, so I can only hope they’ve been thorough here so there can be appropriate consequences.
