Person dies after fiery crash on Loop 202 Red Mountain freeway in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. — A person is dead after a fiery crash in Tempe Friday.

During morning rush hour, two vehicles collided on the Loop 202 eastbound near Priest Drive. Several lanes were blocked after the crash.

Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said a person has died from the crash. DPS also said a vehicle involved in the crash caught fire.

The crash involved a pickup truck hauling a trailer that was parked on the left shoulder of the freeway due to mechanical issues. A passenger vehicle then struck the trailer.

Additional information on the victims were not immediately released.
