Hit-and-run suspect arrested, charged for injuring woman and driving away

MCBAIN — The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run that happened on Monday around 4:25 p.m. in McBain.

Deputies were called to Stoney Corners west of Cherry Street in McBain on Monday. They say it all started when a car went into the ditch due to snowy roads. A 51-year-old McBain woman stopped to check on the driver.

Deputies say she was standing next to her car when another car driving east hit her. The driver didn’t stop.

The woman was taken to Cadillac Munson with serious injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office says the suspected car was a black 2020-2022 GMC Denali pickup truck. The vehicle will have damage to the passenger headlight and fender area.

They are asking anyone with any information about the driver or truck to call 231-839-4338 or Silent Observer at 231-779-9215.
