GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol has released new details following a deadly crash involving three vehicles.
Troopers say the collision happened around 4:40 p.m. on Highway 221 near Greenwood Mills Farm Road.
According to troopers, a 2006 Ford F-150 was disabled and partially in the roadway on the southbound side of U.S. 221.
A pedestrian was trying to refuel the Ford’s gas tank, but both the pedestrian and the Ford were struck by a 2010 Nissan Altima, according to troopers.
Troopers say the driver of the Nissan was not injured, but the pedestrian died as a result of the collision.
The Greenwood County Coroner’s Office says the pedestrian death was ruled to be an accident. His cause of death was ruled out to be blunt force
The GCCO says the identity of the pedestrian will be released once next of kin is notified.
