Woman critical in hospital after being struck on Dixie Highway, child also in serious condition

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Dixie Highway Friday night, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Police also say a child is in the hospital with serious injuries resulting from the incident.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. when LMPD Third Division officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Dixie near Katherine Station Road. That’s just north of the Jefferson/Hardin County line.

When they got there, police determined that a vehicle had stopped for an unknown reason in Dixie’s southbound lanes.

The driver, an adult woman, got out of the vehicle and was hit by another vehicle also traveling south.

The impact sent the woman into the northbound lanes of Dixie.

The vehicle that hit her then hit her stopped car, causing serious damage and seriously injuring a child passenger inside.

The person who struck the woman remained on the scene.

Emergency medical services arrived and took the woman to UofL Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The child who was injured was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital with what police said were serious injuries.

The driver of the car with the child in it reportedly had no injuries.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
