Woman dead after two vehicles collide with disabled vehicle on Mass. highway

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — A 28-year-old New Bedford, Massachusetts, woman died Friday in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 140, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office said.

The multi-vehicle crash happened on the southbound side of the highway near Exit 4 around 5:10 p.m.

According to the DA’s office, Julia Luiz was driving a Toyota Camry when it apparently became disabled in the left lane. Investigators said Luiz was outside of her vehicle in the roadway when a 63-year-old New Bedford man driving a Toyota Rav4 struck Luiz’s disabled vehicle.

Investigators say moments later, a Toyota Camry being operated by a 58-year-old Rochester man also struck Luiz’s disabled vehicle.

The District Attorney’s Office said none of the other driver’s were seriously injured in the crash.

The DA said the investigation was active and ongoing.
