The Knoxville Police Department is investigating two unrelated serious crashes, including one that was fatal, a department spokesperson said in a press release.
Just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a multicar crash with injuries on Interstate 40 west near Cedar Bluff Road, the release stated.
Police say a Ford pickup truck had broken down and the driver pulled off the road to the left-hand shoulder. It was struck by a Chevrolet pickup and that driver was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release said. His identity has not been released. The driver of the Ford was not hurt.
That crash remains under investigation by KPD crash reconstruction personnel.
