Keith Evans tragically killed in Salemburg hit-and-run accident

SALEMBURG, NC, (February 16, 2023) - The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for the suspect in a Thursday evening hit-and-run accident that killed a 59-year-old man in Salemburg.

According to authorities, Keith Anthony Evans, of Newton Grove, was driving a vehicle northbound along North Carolina Highway 242 when the vehicle malfunctioned in an undetermined manner and stopped along the roadway shortly after 7 p.m. After activating the vehicle’s hazard lights, Evans stepped outside and was struck by a passing motorist who fled the scene.

Sadly, Evans died from injuries he sustained in the crash.

Investigators say evidence recovered at the scene indicates the vehicle involved is a 2006-2012 Chevrolet Impala with damage to the front end.
