Lancaster, CA (February 1, 2023) – A deadly pedestrian accident occurred in the area of Avenue J and 200th Street East Tuesday, January 31.
The Antelope Valley Times News reported a 68-year-old woman was standing in front of her 2004 Toyota. According to the article published online, the Toyota had stopped for and unknown reason and the woman stepped out of her car.
Officials said the disabled Toyota was partially blocking the eastbound and westbound traffic lanes of Avenue J at 200th Street East. While standing near her car, a passing 2011 Ford heading west on Avenue J struck the woman. The force from the impact instantly killed the victim. Despite life-saving efforts performed by responding paramedics, the 68-year-old Riverside resident sadly succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the scene. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver and passenger in the Ford both appeared unharmed after the crash.
Detectives handling the case continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the deadly accident that happened at Avenue J and 200th Street East in Lancaster.
