TIMONIUM - A fiery crash on Interstate 83 in Timonium killed two people on Friday night, according to Maryland State Police.
Police said troopers responded to reports of a crash on northbound I-83 near the Padonia exit around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday. Officers saw that the car was on fire and called the Baltimore County Fire Department.
Baltimore County Fire Department Personnel said the white 2015 Kia Optima was completely engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the Kia swerved off the highway onto the right shoulder, where it struck a tractor-trailer truck. The truck was not pulling a trailer at the time of the accident.
Two passengers in the car died on the scene. Their identities are pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the truck was uninjured, according to police.
