SAN DIEGO, CA, (February 26, 2023) - Rafael Jurado Cardona was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle on Feb. 26 on State Route 78 in San Diego.
According to authorities, Cardona was driving a Chevrolet sedan eastbound just west of Emerald Avenue when he pulled over and stopped adjacent to the center divider to apparently change a flat tire at about 10:20 a.m. Cardona was standing to the rear of his vehicle when a Buick sedan also traveling eastbound swerved for unknown reasons striking the center divider as well as the decedent and his vehicle. Sadly, Cardona, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
