New Haven, CT — April 2, 2023, a truck driver was fatally injured while trying to avoid a disabled vehicle around 8:30 p.m. on I-95 in New Haven.
Sources report the victim’s semi-truck was headed north on I-90 on the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge taking Exit 50 when the truck had to avoid a passenger vehicle disabled in the right shoulder lane with a flat tire. The evasive action reportedly sent the semi-truck head-on into a concrete barrier and caused the truck to catch fire. The truck then purportedly crossed all four lanes of traffic and struck the west barrier.
The semi-truck driver suffered fatal injuries.
Authorities also report the driver of the disabled vehicle suffered minor injuries, however, they did not say if the semi-truck collided with the stopped car.
The identity of the truck driver has still not been released nor what factors officials believe caused the accident.
