A woman died after being struck by a vehicle while walking across Highway 99 in Sacramento on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said that the woman was driving on southbound 99 around 10:07 p.m. when her car got a flat tire north of Elkhorn Boulevard.
As another vehicle was driving down the highway, the woman crossed over into another lane and was hit and killed, CHP said.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman stopped and waited for police to arrive at the scene, according to CHP.
Police do not suspect that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
