CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A deadly crash closed a portion of the outer loop of Interstate 485 in Charlotte, first responders said, but the road reopened about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday.
The crash investigation was at the I-485 outer loop and Park Road. That’s in the area of Pineville-Matthews Road.
Medic confirmed that a pedestrian was struck and killed.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the pedestrian pulled over to the side of the road on the shoulder completely out of the road. A dump truck was traveling east in the right lane. The pedestrian ran out into the road and was hit by the dump truck.
Troopers said the man killed is a 67-year-old who lived in Charlotte, but was from New York.
