ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A man was killed while standing on the shoulder next to his pickup truck on Florida’s Turnpike in Saint Cloud, troopers say.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. on Thursday.
They say the 47-year-old was pulled over on the shoulder standing next to his pickup when another driver hit the back of his pickup which was towing a boat, killing him.
The driver who hit the man reportedly stayed on scene.
The crash is under investigation.
The incident temporarily shut down all the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike south of US-192, but all the lanes reopened before sunrise.
