HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - A 37-year-old man died in a crash on northbound I-95 near Parham Road on Thursday morning.
“A 2018 Freightliner was stopped on the shoulder when a 2019 International MV 607 truck ran off the road and rear-ended the stopped Freightliner,” Virginia State Police said about the crash that happened just after 4:30 a.m.
Police say the driver of the International, Jeremy James Batty, died on the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner, who was from North Carolina, was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
He was charged with improper stopping on the interstate.
The crash closed all lanes of the interstate for hours causing major delays Thursday morning. All lanes reopened around 10 a.m.
