MARIETTA, GA, (September 23, 2023) - A Monroe woman is dead after being fatally struck by a vehicle early Saturday after she stopped to help a motorist involved in a crash, Marietta police said.
The string of events began around 12:42 a.m. when the driver of a Kia Sedona lost control for undetermined reasons, flew across all lanes of traffic, and ultimately slammed into the median on Interstate 75 South, north of the Delk Road exit ramp. The crashed Sedona was hit multiple times by passing vehicles.
As this was happening, two people pulled over and got out of their vehicles to provide assistance to the Sedona driver. Unfortunately, they were struck by the driver of a black Dodge Challenger, who also lost control.
One of the victims hit by the Dodge, identified as 38-year-old Sarah Bolt, was killed in the collision.
The other person was hospitalized with serious injuries.
