Nebraska State Patrol identifies woman killed in fiery crash on Hwy 77

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol has identified the woman who died Friday night following a fiery crash on Highway 77.

Severine Bouckongou, 44, died after being hit by a vehicle as she ran from the crash.

Several agencies responded to the scene around 7 p.m. near Hwy 77 and Pioneers Boulevard.

The state patrol said Bouckongou’s car, a Chevrolet Cruze, had broken down on southbound Hwy 77.

The vehicle had its hazard lights on, according to a state trooper on the scene.

Bouckongou was standing outside her vehicle when a southbound Honda Civic rear-ended the Cruze, starting the blaze.

The patrol said Bouckongou ran from the collision, but was hit by a northbound vehicle on Hwy 77.

A trooper responded to the scene, and when he arrived, several people were attempting life-saving measures on Bouckongou.

She was transported to Bryan West Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Two occupants in the Civic were also transported with injuries that were not life threatening.

The state patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
