SAN ANTONIO - A good samaritan was trying to help someone stranded on the highway when things turned for the worse on the Northeast side.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the accident happened near the 2900 block of IH 35 North around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Police share that a 55-year-old woman was standing in front of her Jeep helping a stranded driver.
The woman parked her Jeep in lane three and partially on the right shoulder to help the driver with some jumper cables.
Suddenly, a Nissan Frontier pickup truck came traveling down IH 35 in the third lane and crashed into the back of the Jeep. The Jeep struck the woman and the stranded driver.
The woman ended up hitting the pavement on the highway and the stranded driver was redirected to the guardrail.
Emergency services were able to transport both of the victims to the hospital. The woman is in critical condition and the other victim is stable.
No charges are pending at this time.
