DUNSEITH, N.D. (KFGO) – Three people were hurt in two related crashes on Highway 3 12 miles south of Dunseith early Thursday.
The Highway Patrol said the first crash happened around 3:30 a.m. when a truck left the road, vaulted off an approach and landed in the ditch.
The drivers of a car and a pickup stopped to help. The car was parked with headlights shining at the truck. The pickup was parked partially in a driving lane.
While both drivers were out of those vehicles, another car rear-ended the pickup and spun into the first car.
The driver of the truck, a 70-year-old man from Manitoba, Canada, suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital in Rugby. The driver and passenger of the second car were taken to hospitals in Belcourt and Rolla with minor injuries. The other two drivers were not hurt.
The crash is under investigation.
